Instructions:

  1. Enter your monthly energy consumption in kWh. It can be found in your monthly utility bill. U.S. average is 920 kWh.
  2. Enter your utility electricity rate in dollars per kilowatt-hour. It can be found in your monthly utility bill. U.S. average is $0.115/kWh
  3. Select the installation cost of the solar system per watt. Typical residential solar systems cost around $7 per watt. Commercial systems cost less.
  4. Enter your state/ local utility rebate in $ per watt. You can find out the exact incentive by using the DSIRE website and selecting your state. Typical residential incentive is $2.50/ W
